Serena Islamabad becomes first energy efficient hotel in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Serena Hotel Islamabad has achieved ISO 50001 certification in Energy Management System.

This has made it the first hotel in the country to achieve this certification. The initiative in collaboration with UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Global Environment Facility brought Serena Hotels one step closer to sustainable, environmentally friendly business operations.

The management of the hotel believes that this would benefit not only the planet, but its businesses as well, said a press statement.

The standard allows organisations to establish processes that improve energy performance, including efficient energy use and consumption.

Climate change is an undeniable reality now. Pakistan is one of the top countries that will be heavily impacted by global warming.

With the risks of climate change becoming ever-present, forward thinking organisations need to adopt an attitude of continual improvement and put the planet first.
