ISLAMABAD: A large number of Overseas Pakistanis from all over world have been filing applications to Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for delivery and issuance of Passports and National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs).
Number of Pakistanis all over world approached Federal Ombudsman Secretariat with the request to continue and ensure delivery of their Passports and NICOPs .
They have asked that respective departments be advised to deliver these documents to respective Pakistan Missions for onward delivery and on individual addresses of Pakistanis as well. The process suffered suspension due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahnad Khokher Senior Adviser / Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis in Federal Ombudsman Secretariat took Cognisance of the matter and issued notices to Ministry of Interior, DG Passports , Chairman NADRA for submission of report and and fixed the matter for hearing.
During the hearing , representative of DG Passports informed that delivery of Passports have been started on both Pakistan Missions and at the individual addresses of Overseas Pakistanis. So far 9576 passports have been dispatched to different Pakistan Missions and 463 passports have been dispatched to Malaysia by Passports department.
To provide interim relief, the validity period of Passports has been extended for one year as per orders of Ministry of Interior.
NADRA has submitted to Federal Ombudsman Secretariat that courier services were stopped
