Shahbaz making false claims of innocence when his front men confessed corruption: Chohan

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has said that the Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif is making false claims of innocence at a time when his front men have been arrested by the Prosecution Departments and have confessed corruption amounting to billions of rupees accumulated by illegal means on his and Hamza Shahbaz’s directions.

Responding to Opposition Leader’s press conference being held in London, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan said that Shahbaz Sharif has handed over Punjab at a time when it was making profit of 100 billion and he turned it into a loss making entity. It is Shahbaz Sharif, who robbed people of Punjab through 56 companies and handed them over to present government running under heavy loss, he added.

The former CM promoted the culture of loot and plunder in Punjab and cases like Model Town incidents bears testimony to these facts, the provincial minister said adding that Shahbaz Sharif has eroded and tainted all institutions like Punjab Police, WASA and Patwar with corruption and nepotism.

“Shahbaz Sharif did not even actively pursue the defamation case against the British journalist who labelled him corrupt. His assets have been frozen after adopting due legal process. He should stop befooling the people of Pakistan and subsequently return and face the courts,” Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan concluded. (With additional input from INP)
