DERA GHAZI KHAN: Shahbaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz ( PML-N) and Opposition leader in National Assembly has said that PML-N was the only political party that worked day and night for the development, progress and prosperity of South Punjab and if given a chance it would do even more.
He said that PML-N had worked day and night to eradicate all issues including healthcare, education and clean drinking water.
He said this was a major issue especially regarding Dera Ghazi Khan. PML-N had started the ‘Saaf Pani’ project from South Punjab for this reason and had planned to expand it to Central Punjab and Northern Punjab later, and it was the biggest project in the history of Punjab for which all preparations including tenders had been made. But unfortunately there was a gap of Rs 70 billion between original estimates and the tenders. On investigation it was revealed that there was a mega fraud in this regard which was why he opted to cancel that tender to save the public’s Rs 70 billion. However, he said that PML-N had not given up and before the end of PML-N tenure in 2018, it had started the Saaf Pani project in Dera Ghazi Khan. He said clean drinking water is the basis for a healthy and productive society.
He said PML-N laid a network of Hospitals and education institutes in DG Khan, Ghazi Hospital Ghazi University and Danish Schools.
He reminded that the Danish Schools catered to the poor Pakistanis and were of the same level as the Aitcheson school and College where only the elite and uber rich could afford to educate their children.
He said PMLN focused especially on South Punjab regarding healthcare and especially education in Bahawalpur, Rajanpur and Taunsa.
He expressed greifand disappointment over the fact that the Danish School which had almost been completed in Taunsa was stalled by the PTI government.
He talked about the Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh with the help of the government of Turkey which was like Pakistan’s John Hopkins Hospital of Pakistan. Similarly he said, PML build Cardiac hospitals and Veterinary Hospital in Bahawalpur. He also mentioned the University built in Rahim Yar Khan.
Shahbaz said that PML-N had increased the stipend to encourage girls education from rs 200 to Rs 1000. He said that 90,000 children working as labor in Brick Kilns were brought to schools by incentivizing their education by giving their parents Rs 3,000.
He talked about the Duel Carriageways built by the PML-N government under the “Pakkiyaan Sarkaan Saukhay Painday” Scheme’; the 96 km long Khanewal-Lodhran motorway; Lahore-Multan Motorway; Bahwalpur-Hasilpur Motorway . he mentioned the Bahwalpur Solar Energy plant that was now producing 400MW electricity and providing employment opportunities.
The PML-N President said that he had especially allocated 3 percent set quota for South Punjab to ensure that its development was not compromised in any way.
He stressed that the industrious people of South Punjab were in no way less than anyone in the country and had played a vital role in the development of the country.
He pledged that when PML-N comes into power it would restart its drive to ensure that the people of South Punjab a progressing and prosperous life.
