Sindh advises against resumption of railway services

KARACHI: Sindh’s transport minister, Owais Shah, has warned Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed against the resumption of railway services, saying: “This is not the time to run trains; it is a time to save people’s lives from the coronavirus.”

“A resumption of train services will lead to huge crowds gathering at railway stations. These crowds may lead to a spread of the disease,” said Shah.

The minister said that the federal government should avoid “playing with people’s lives” just to satisfy their “greed for money”. “As it is, due to the federal government’s negligence, a continuous rise in the number of cases is being seen,” he said.

“It is a state’s job to protect the lives of people, not play with them like this.”
