ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Chairman National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Asad Umar on Wednesday has said that single day vaccination in Pakistan crosses one and a half million for the first time.
In a chain of posts on social-networking website Twitter, the minister for Planning said, “Yesterday, 1.59 million vaccinations were carried out. Both first dose and second dose vaccinations were highest ever with 1 million 71 thousand and 519 thousand respectively.”
We had set a minimum target of 40 per cent of 18 plus population being partially vaccinated by end August for 24 large cities. Only cities to miss the target were Hyderabad, Mardan, Nowshera and Quetta, he added.
35 per cent of national eligible population has received at least 1 dose. Islamabad is at 69 per cent, Azad Kashmir 51 per cent, Gilgit Baltistan 39 per cent, Punjab 37 per cent, Khyber Pakhtunkhwah 35 per cent, Sindh 32 per cent and Balochistan 12 per cent, Asad Umar stated.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 101 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,163,688. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 25,889 on Wednesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 3,559 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Till now 11,915 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,910 in Sindh, 4,988 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 866 in Islamabad, 698 in Azad Kashmir, 339 in Balochistan, and 173 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Furthermore, 432,637 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 394,738 in Punjab, 162,402 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 99,516 in Islamabad, 32,248 in Balochistan, 32,228 in Azad Kashmir and 9,919 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 17,809,969 coronavirus tests and 53,637 in the last 24 hours. 1,043,898 patients have recovered in the country whereas 5,690 patients are in critical condition.
