Human is a social animal. Let us take a view of the word ‘Animal’, as I understand it; all creatures living on the earth are by default subdued to instinct and human is no exception.
But one obvious feature that makes human superior to rest of creatures is high level of intelligence and power to either forgo from or go for, some action or reaction under the given circumstances. They can take decision in accordance with the existing conditions in an optimum way rather merely following the command of an instinct.
Yet, a human does possess the word animal as a suffix, why so?. Whosoever, would have used this phrase ‘social animal’ for the first time for human being must have been a great thinker of his era.
The reason is simple, we witness in our daily life many times a display on part of a human where he simply forgets being a superior creature and displays a behaviour like an animal- at times even worst.
These are the moments, he is judged as animal and very correctly so. One major source of strength that minimises this undesirable state is education. Be aware that religion is the part of education that plays the most important role in making us civilized.
Education teaches us to inculcate the necessary ingredients that shape and polish human to behave in a cultured way. It, though, increases the power of human to control himself much better, yet it’s impossible to control and dominate over the instinct hundred percent. At times an instinct is the power that makes you do wonders.
But controlling the behaviour in a manner, like putting a gadget for eliminating unwanted distortion and letting the clear voice pass through, should be the aim.
Similarly the requirement of instinct to remain unsuppressed when so required like gravitational pull is equally important.
For example, you are not fond of someone and feel like spitting on his face. But that would be a shameful behaviour and must be suppressed whereas being outspoken to maintain your self- esteem is again off shoot of the instinct that must work at the time of need without being suppressed.
But a human, since cannot regulate himself to this extent in extra extraordinary manner, there comes the problem of inappropriate behaviours. After a brief discussion, we now converge to the point that most problems prevailing in societies around the world are surely related to human behaviour.
As a result of our inappropriate and uncontrolled social behaviours, we and people around us badly suffer. Because of this, people develop friction among each other. Few examples regarding command of instinct that directs you to wrong dimensions are:
Being greedy to have more than what we actually deserve,
To become more powerful and snatch from others, and
Sexual abuse within a society. Etcetera, Etcetera
Since we are not a machine to get programmed first and then behave under a constraint, Allah has blessed us with wisdom and emotions to decide and determine the correct path. But grey part of our instinct is mostly under the strong Sitanic (Iblees) influence that drives our hearts and brains towards bad.
