SRINAGAR: Junaid Sehrai the son of a top resistant leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was martyred on Tuesday as Indian forces continue their brutalities in Indian Held Kashmir.
In the operation in Srinagar, the winter capital of disputed territory, Tariq Ahmed Sheikh another youngster was also martyred. Over dozen houses were destroyed, internet services and cell phone services were also suspended.
“Two militants have been killed.” Director General of Police Dilbag Singh told media. He said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site.
This is the first major operation in down town Srinagar after a gap of 2 years. Indian authorities also imposed curfew in the area.
The police spokesperson identified the slain youngsters as Junaid Sehrai S/O Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai resident of Srinagar and Tariq Ahmad sheikh resident of Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
In August 2018 Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has been elected as the chairman of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir – previously led by Syed Ali Geelani for a period of three years
An encounter broke out in downtown Srinagar between rebels and Indian occupational forces when Indian occupational forces laid siege around Kanimazar area of downtown Srinagar and started search operation.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding rebels fired upon them, triggering an encounter, Indian authorities claimed.
The gunfight began around 2 am after a joint team of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of militants.
Fifteen houses and ten vehicles were also destroyed during the fierce gunfight when Indian occupational forces used IED’s and Gunpowder to raze the houses to ground.
The locals told journalists that Indian occupational forces looted jewelry and other valuables from households, and deliberately destroyed vehicles and window panes of several houses.
Junaid Sehrai, an MBA from Kashmir University, is a son of Tehreek-I-Hurriyat Chairman and top resistance leader Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.
The bodies of slain youngsters were not handed over to their families by Indian occupational forces and buried in undisclosed location. Despite restrictions, a large number of people gathered at the house of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and paid homage to the fallen hero. Hurriyat Chairman led the funeral prayers in absentia for the slain son.
