ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Japan is pleased to share with our valued Pakistani friends that SUGA Yoshihide has become the new Prime Minister of Japan on Wednesday.
PM SUGA succeeded Japan’s longest serving PM ABE Shinzo who resigned for health reasons after more than eight years in total.
The 71-year-old SUGA, the son of a strawberry farmer from the northern part of Japan, started his political career as a local assemblyman. He held a key post of chief cabinet secretary, as PM ABE’s top government spokesperson. He pledged to continue PM ABE’s policies.
Under PM ABE’s dynamic leadership, Japan-Pakistan relations grew stronger in multiple fields including economy, politics and security. We would like to express our sincere wish that the bilateral relationship would become even stronger with the new leadership of Japan.
