When I was a kid of 7, I believed the world was perfect. I would often hear words as “I wish I was a kid.”
Childhood began with blossoms of spring and meant all the possible joys and memories it bestowed upon me. Perhaps, passing through the moons of time, my beliefs have changed, but so has the world.
I redefine by asking, “What if a child like myself at that very moment had a different perspective of life? What if time had taught me lessons of gloom? What if I had been haunted by dreams of humans forcing me? What if together me and my childhood had been scattered within a glimpse of an eye? What would the word ‘childhood’ brought to my life if it was saddened by pain and futility?”
However, for many children be it a girl or boy, childhood might have been nothing but despair also haunted by undesired memories. The cursed fate confronts them with social injustices before they hold on a toy properly. Their bodies are torn and they suffer brutality while holding dolls in their hands. Every year, children bleed and die and whole of the world watches them cry until silence prevails.
Coming across social media information about cases of child rape, a questions arises why children experience such tragedies again and again. Why did news of Zainab, Faizaan, Salman and other such victims flashes on the media is a question that baffles one’s mind. According to some reports, the crime ratio has increased by 11 percent in Pakistan. Why the rapists go unidentified scot free?
Perhaps, such stories and such tiny souls are the testimony to the fact of the unending evil that has been taking over the world. The unkind killing behavior of humans pushes the dream of fairytales away at a very young age. Thinking, a little soul had tasted the abuse of lust and inhuman behavior makes me question every possible way of having the right to live. The government should take further steps to check the crime so that we don’t see dolls fallen in streets.
