BALAKOT :Thousands of tourists have been trapped in Balakot and Jalkhand after land sliding, and five persons – including two siblings – lost their lives after flooding in Jalkhand Nullas and other parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP),
As per details, the visitors stranded for two days are facing shortage of food and fuel is running out of vehicles as Naran-Babusar Top Road remained blocked for second day.
Balakot Assistant Commissioner told that Kaghan Road is blocked at eight points between Jalkhand and Borawai due to land sliding, and called for helicopter service from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for rescue work.
Furthermore, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFCD) has predicted high floods in River Jhelum and Chenab. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released a report stating people and places effected by the heavy rain, landsliding and various accidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
PDMA stated that five people including children died whereas 18 got injured. It destructed five homes and partial damaged a school.
Naran-Kumrat road, closed by land sliding in Balakot area, has been cleared for traffic. Two vehicles were rescued in a land sliding accident. The district administration as well as the Pak Army participated in the rescue of those affected by the land sliding.(INP)
