RAWALPINDI: The victims of Toyota Indus Motor Company and its dealerships’ embezzlement of 400 million rupees hailing from various districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have urged Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (R) Javed Iqbal for justice and fair investigation.
Talking to media here on Sunday, the affectees of the Toyota Hyderabad Motors and Indus Motors action committee rejected the investigation of NAB Karachi which did not provide relief to them during the past three years.
The committee members included Sheikh Inamullah (Layyah), Ali Akram (Gujranwala), Hamid Sarfaraz, Aqib Javed, Saud Awan, Sufyan Bajwa, Waseem Khan, Zeeshan Khan, Ahmed Gul and other victims of the Toyota Indus and its dealerships fraud.
They alleged that Toyota Hyderabad had offered them to sell cars at low cost as they had excessive quota of cars available in Sindh.
From the outset Toyota Hyderabad Motors had swiftly provided cars on comparatively less rates than the market and after gaining the confidence and trust of the affectees booked over Rs 400 million worth 200 cars which were not delivered to the affectees.
The affectees said that Asad Ali Malik of Toyota Hyderabad Motors was conducting meetings in the company’s office, entertaining affectees and using the land line number of THM.
He also claimed that he was not only sales agent of outside region sales but also partner of Shoaib Sumroo the owner of the Hyderabad Motors. When the affectees after a long wait went to Toyota Hyderabad Motors office it was told that the vehicles had been delivered to the owners and the office denied any relationship with Asad Ali Malik.
The issue has been taken up with the Karachi NAB who appointed Inquiry Officer Irfan Ali to probe the case. After thorough investigation Shoaib Sumroo and Asad Ali Malik were arrested and a weak,
Incomplete and contradictory interim reference was filed in the Accountability Court, Hyderabad on April 26, 2019 in which out of 200 cars, claim for only 16 cars was filed while the claim of remaining cars was deliberately omitted. Thereby, the main accused,
Shoaib Sumroo owner of the Toyota Hyderabad Motors was acquitted before the trail began from the NAB Court Hyderabad on the basis of no evidence.(INP)
They reportedly mentioned that the 200 cars were sold in the market on fake letter heads and signatures. Though it was the standard operating procedure of Toyota Motors that the cars were delivered to the owner after proper identification and taking a photograph standing before the car delivered. However, no such procedure was followed and the cars were delivered to other people without verification.
They said that the quota system of Toyota Company revealed that it offered less quota to region with higher demand and larger quota to area with lesser demand of cars, thereby, deliberately creating shortage in order to charge higher premium (ON). They said Toyota Company is also involved in the scam through its agents/dealerships who perpetrating the ON. They urged upon the Chairman NAB to take notice of this and transfer the case to Islamabad and order fresh inquiry into the matter to provide justice to the affectees.
