ISLAMABAD-Trade leader and social activist Jahangir Akhtar will start a hunger strike from tomorrow (June 17) to draw the attention of the government towards problems faced by the business community.
According to Akhtar, the majority of the chamber of commerce and trade associations are in the hands of qabza groups who have nothing to do with the national development.
They are pushing the agenda of personal welfare while exploiting the business community. There is no democracy in the majority of the trade associations which has frustrated genuine businessmen.
These trade associations have failed to deliver therefore the government should take their control so that merit could prevail.
The hunger strike will continue until the demands are met.
