TANK: Elders of Mahsood tribe have denounced the use of substandard material in the construction of Kotkai Karama-Kaniguram road in Tank.
A grand “Jirga” of the elders of Mahsood tribe, held here Monday in the office of the Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan, blamed that substandard local sand and crush was being used in the pavement of Kotkai Karama to Kanigurum under construction road.
Addressing the “Jirga” tribal notables Malik Noor Khan, Malik Muhammad Rafiq, Malik Saeed Anwar and others asserted that the construction contract of the said road was illegal as it was not even tendered which was the violation of Public Procurement Regularity Authority (PPRA) rules, they maintained.
Later, the leaders of the Jirga met the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) South Waziristan Faheedullah and apprised him about their concerns.
The ADC assured the tribal heads to constitute a committee consisting of Assistant Commissioner Ladha and tribal elders to visit the site and report
the facts for further pursuance and corrective measures.
Another Jirga of “Dray Mahsood (The three sub-caste of Mahsood tribe)” has been called on November 12 to reach a decisive course of action about the matter.
