True face of India stands exposed before world: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: True Indian face opened before the world community owing to the discriminatory behavior with the Muslims and minorities residing there, said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Talking to media in Multan, he said discriminatory laws and suppression on Muslims and other minorities by Indian government and Hindu fanatics of BJP has tarnished the Indian image. The real and true face of India and Hindutva is getting exposed before the world community owing to the discriminatory behavior of Indian ruling BJP with the Muslims and minorities residing there.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan should be taken off the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list as it has made considerable progress on the requirements of the international terror financing watchdog.

Asserting that the country has made considerable progress on the requirements of the FATF and hence, should be taken off its grey-list, the foreign minister said all member, except India, agreed that Pakistan made progress in tacking the issues related to terror financing. “India, of course, disagreed. But India has never wanted for Pakistan to be taken off the grey list. In fact, it wants Pakistan to be added to the blacklist,” he said.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is committed to project the positive image of Pakistan internationally, Qureshi said.

He said that announcement by the United Kingdom to revise its travel advisory and resumption of British Airways flights is testimony to the fact of significant improvement in Pakistan s security situation.

The foreign minister went on to say that Pakistan is emerging as a vital destination for tourism in the year 2020, adding that the people from around the world are taking keen interest to visit Pakistan and witness its scenic beauty.

“Prospects of investment in the tourism industry have also increased, which will be helpful to deal with the issue of unemployment in the country,” he said.

FM Qureshi expressed the hope that other countries will also revisit their travel advisory for Pakistan in days to come, adding that the government is committed to project the positive image of Pakistan internationally.
