US President Donald Trump announced on Monday United States was getting close to finalize a new deal with India aimed at expanding economic and security cooperation, increasing US energy exports and encouraging investments in key sectors of the US economy.
“We’re getting a fair deal, just a fair-trade deal,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office at the swearing-in of his envoy to India, Sergio Gor. “We’re making a deal with India, a much different deal than we had in the past.”

Expressing confidence in the progress of negotiation Trump added “We’re getting close.”
