TTP extremists exploit locals in Mardan area of KP, alleges resident

MARDAN: Defunct Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have started their activities of exploiting local residents in Mardan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by indulging in extortion, and threats, reports said.

A resident namely Bilal belonging to Mardan KP, has stepped forward with disturbing revelations about the tactics utilized by TTP individuals in the region, reported a television network.

He claimed that suspicious individuals associated with the defunct TTP lured his father and uncle into Afghanistan under false pretenses. Promising better opportunities, these individuals coerced the two men into training against Pakistan, resulting in tragic consequences. Bilal’s father lost his life in combat, while his uncle sustained injuries.

According to Bilal, his uncle disclosed the appalling treatment they endured, including being coerced into carrying out illicit activities contrary to Islamic teachings.

Allegations also emerged of daily harassment to extort money systematic exploitation faced by Bilal’s family and others in similar circumstances.

The aftermath of his father’s demise plunged the family into deeper despair, with household conditions deteriorating rapidly. Bilal’s mother resorted to maid work to make ends meet, while the siblings struggled to afford necessities like food and clothing.

This heartbreaking narrative sheds light on the grim reality faced by many in the region, where poverty and vulnerability are exacerbated by the predatory actions of extremist groups like the TTP.

Despite the hardships endured, Bilal remains resolute in his condemnation of the Taliban and their actions, highlighting the community’s resilience in the face of adversity.
