Swat: A one-day seminar titled “Climate Change and Its Regional Impacts” was held at University of Swat here on Tuesday to highlight the regional consequences of climate change and need for collaborative community-based initiatives.
The seminar was organized by the Department of Environmental and Conservation Sciences, University of Swat, in collaboration with the Pakistan Council of World Religions–Faith Friends (PCWR-FF).
The Vice Chancellor of University of Swat, Prof Dr Hassan Sher attended the seminar as a chief guest and the event was coordinated by Prof Dr Muhammad Qasim, Pro Vice Chancellor at University of Swat. Dr Wajid Rashid, who ensured the successful execution of this important academic activity.
The delegation from PCWR-FF included its Chairman Qari Roohullah Madani, Program Manager Maqsood Ahmad, Project Coordinator Najmussaqib, and other team members.
On this occasion, Prof Dr Hassan Sher shared his valuable insights on climate change and its cascading impacts on the region. He also announced the establishment of a Climate Cell at the University of Swat to promote research, awareness, and policy dialogue on environmental challenges.
Chairman PCWR-FF, Qari Roohullah Madani, discussed the regional implications of climate change and stressed the need for collaborative community-based initiatives. Prof. Dr Muhammad Qasim delivered a comprehensive presentation on the causes and consequences of climate change, emphasising the urgency of global action to mitigate this universal threat. Dr. Yahya, University of Swat, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation from an Islamic perspective.
At the conclusion of the seminar, shields were presented to the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor in recognition of their leadership and support. The Pro Vice Chancellor also presented a shield to the Chairman PCWR-FF. Certificates were distributed among the organizers and participants for their committed efforts in arranging this significant academic event.
The Chairman PCWR-FF appreciated the organizers and all participants, urging them to disseminate the knowledge and learning from the seminar within their respective communities to promote positive change in the region.
