WASHINGTON: An official in the US State Department administration has voiced his support for Pakistan’s stance on the terrorist attacks by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West supported Pakistan’s position on the TTP’s terrorist activities in the country.
Speaking at a seminar held at the Stimson Center, Thomas West said the TTP is a major threat to the peace in the region.
He added that Pakistan has seen an increase in attacks by the TTP using the Afghan soil. “Anyone who knows the region knows that the TTP continued to fight as a supporter of the Afghan Taliban after its expulsion from Pakistan,” he commented.
The Afghan Taliban and the TTP are on the same page in terms of operational and financial support, the US official added.
