WANA: The post of Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) in South Waziristan Department Abnooshi Sub Division Wana is vacant for the last few months.
The importance of irrigation for an area like sub-division Wana cannot be denied because the people of Waziristan have to suffer losses ranging of billions of rupees every year in terms of grains, vegetables and fruits due to lack of rainfall and drought.
The government’s indifference to such a huge loss of the poor people of such a backward and poverty-stricken area is a shame. The work of the Irrigation Department is to protect the crops from possible damage due to drought or lack of water through small dams, canals and various projects in the area and also to ensure the access of people to clean drinking water.
Talking to the media in this regard, the leading social workers belonging to Wana, Malik Zale Khan and Jameel Khan, said that after the transfer of the former SDO sub-division Wana, due to the non-appointment of the SDO for the past few months, the sub-division additional charge has been given to the SDO of Ladha.
He said that it is impossible for one SDO to visit the site of two sub-divisions at the same time. In view of the demand for the immediate appointment of a new SDO for sub-division Wana.
