Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Sunday confirmed that at least 145 militants have been killed in almost 40 hours across the province after terrorists belonging to Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched “coordinated attacks across 12 towns”.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, the CM said 17 security personnel and 31 civilians embraced martyrdom during the attacks carried out across the province.
Stating that the state shared the grief of bereaved families CM Bugti assured them that the welfare of the martyrs’ children was the government’s responsibility.
He said that they had intelligence reports that this kind of operation is being planned, and as a result of those, we had already started pre-operations a day before, in which around 40 terrorists were killed in Shaban and Panjgur.
The CM said terrorists were using the Baloch people as “fuel for their war” and deliberately targeting innocent civilians.
whenever Pakistan began making progress, he said, India resorts to conspiracies in an attempt to weaken Pakistan.
He said the proscribed BLA is not a political entity open to dialogue, but an armed group seeking to impose its ideology through violence in the name of deprivation.
The chief minister stated militants often blend into civilian populations, but stressed that the state is responsible and cannot harm its own citizens.
Bugti then asked what some people wished for to be the outcome of such a dialogue. “As a result of dialogue, they want us to surrender? We will not. We will fight this war for a thousand years,” he affirmed.
