In response to a journalist’s query about comments made by the Prime Minister’s adviser, Rana Sanaullah—who reportedly asked whether CJP Isa would seek an extension if the retirement age for all judges were extended—Justice Isa firmly replied, “Bring Rana Sanaullah before me.”

CJP Isa further clarified that a meeting had taken place involving Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and the Attorney General for Pakistan, but noted that Rana Sanaullah was not present during those discussions.

He also mentioned there had been talks about extending the tenure of all chief justices but reiterated his personal stance, stating he would not accept an extension for himself, even if others were granted one.

“I said, do it for others; I will not accept it for myself,” he emphasized, adding that he cannot predict whether he will even be alive tomorrow.

The Chief Justice was also questioned about the pending scheduling of the hearing related to a letter from six judges. CJP Isa explained that the decision to schedule the matter rests with a committee and that Justice Mussarat Hilali’s illness had delayed the formation of the necessary bench for the case.
