Workplace Harassment

It was a busy morning and she was running late for her office. She quickly ran to the bus stand and caught the bus, but realized that she was late.

She prepared a to-do list as per her routine and got busy with work. Being a goal oriented person, she decided to do as much work as she can and as soon as possible she continued doing her work after finishing a virtual meeting with her client.

Suddenly, she faced issues and after trying several times to solve them, she thought to ask one of her colleagues. Being a shy person, she hesitated at first but finally asked her colleague to help her as she was running out of time.

He came and asked the problem, and started to help her. Since he had filthy eyes on her, his intentions were not to only help her. Time passed and by taking the advantage of the situation and helplessness of the girl who was the sole earner of her family, he first touched her hand and when she looked at him, he pretended as if nothing happened and it wasn’t intentional.

Then while talking with her, he put his hand on her shoulder and pressed it a bit. Chills ran down her spine but she remained quiet and let it go. He was having pleasure and this led him to the moment when he decided to make her stay in the office for some reason and do what he wants to, without any disturbance. The poor girl had no other option but to do what she was asked for and the fear of losing her job turned her into a silent yet fearful creature.

But, there’s a limit to everything and his bad intentions and actions made her finally speak out when her colleague, who was her immediate supervisor as well called her in his cabin and held her hand while pulling her closer to him.

This was the moment that urged her to scream as loud as she could and ran out of his cabin as fast as she could with a frightful face and tears rolling down her cheeks.

The very next day she got to hear that she’s just trying to create a mess and negative image of the organization when she complained to the CEO about her colleague.

When her colleague came to know about it he decided that now he’d take revenge from her. The moment when he planned his revenge along with his fellow colleagues, the CEO somehow heard everything and fired him.

His punishment for doing all this was not over yet. He got a phone call when he was crestfallen and leaving for his home, that his daughter was sexually harassed in her university.

He was shattered into pieces and asked for forgiveness from that girl in her office who he had sexually harassed.

Sometimes we forget the fact that what goes around comes around. Sometimes, we perform some actions just to fulfill our desires without pondering over the consequences. We forget that a woman too is a human and should be given equal respect in society. There must be a reason that “she” has to step out of her home to earn.

The management of an organization must create such a working atmosphere in which one can feel comfortable and a part of the organization. Cases like workplace harassment should be given importance and some punishment should be given.
