JEHLUM: At least one person was killed and 11 others were injured following an earthquake damaged several houses in the Jalalpur Sharif area of Jhelum district’s Pind Dadan Khan tehsil on Tuesday, according to the local administration.
As per the Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Reza Ozgen, the earthquake was reported in the Jalalpur Sharif area of Jhelum’s Pind Dadan Khan tehsil.
Around 10 houses, Ozgen said, were seriously damaged in the earthquake and confirmed that at least one person had died in the incident.
Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the earthquake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale. It struck at 7:06pm at a depth of 12 kilometres, with its epicentre located about 58 kilometres southwest of Jhelum.
On May 4, tremors were felt in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after a 5.2-magnitude earthquake was reported.
