MIRPUR: Around 76 thousand children under five years will be administered with polio vaccine and Vitamin A drops during a door-to-door campaign in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK).
The campaign, which will continue till December 18, has been launched across AJK by the State Health Services Department in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Mirpur District Health Officer Dr Fida Hussain said that the district had been devided into four zones with the induction of one supervisor in each zone to implement the drive.
He said that one ward in-charge will supervise the campaign in the specified area falling in each union council in the district, adding that a total of 84 union councils ward in-charges would look after the campaign in the district.
Elaborating on the district-wise anti-polio drive, Mr Hussain stated that a total of 400 mobile teams involving over 900 paramedical workers had been constituted and 41 fixed centres had been set up in the district to administer polio vaccine.
Besides at 14 transit points and fixed centers across the district.
The DHO urged the parents to cooperate the visiting paramedic teams to make the national anti-polio campaign complete success.
