Shehbaz Sharif responsible for Nawaz’s return to Pakistan: Shahzad Akbar

LAHORE: Special Adviser to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Accountability Shahzad Akbar has said that it is the responsibility of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to ensure Nawaz Sharif’s return as he is the guarantor.

In a press conference today in Lahore with Provincial Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan and Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill, Shahzad Akbar said that in the recent past Nawaz Sharif has been seen roaming the streets of London despite going there on grounds of a medical emergency.

Mirza Shahzad Akbar said that the Interior Ministry directed Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan on 27th February this year.

He said that Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif should show responsibility and produce his brother Nawaz Sharif before the law as he is a convict under the law.

The Accountability Adviser further said that Nawaz Sharif seems to be in good health leaving no reason for him to not return to Pakistan, all legal options will be employed to bring him back.

Shahzad Akbar said that Nawaz Sharif has been convicted in two corruption cases while the Islamabad High Court has said that he is an absconder after his bail expired.

He said that a letter was written to the British government on March 2, 2020, with a copy of the court decision attached.

He said the former prime minister could not provide any evidence of treatment in London to the medical board.

No medical report of Nawaz Sharif has been submitted to either the court or the Punjab government, he added.
