ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Shibli Faraz on Wednesday vowed to ensure strict punishment for those involved in sexual crimes.
Speaking at a press conference after meeting of federal cabinet, along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, Shibli Faraz said a special assistant to Prime Minister Shahzad Akhbar, has proposed a draft about sexual offenders.
He said that the cabinet also discussed condition of country’s energy sector. “In the past, energy was made expensive due to expensive contracts.
“The masses should be made aware of the reason why electricity was expensive. We are taking to reduce the cost,” he added.
He further stated that the circular debt of the power sector has exhausted the country’s economy. The minister lamented that past agreements have mortgaged the country.
Dr Faisal Sultan said price of Remdesivir has been reduced to Rs 8,400 from Rs 10,837. He also claimed that rates of 94 medicines have been reduced to affordable prices.
These 94 medicines include life-saving drugs, as well as those prescribed for blood pressure, epilepsy, cancer, and heart diseases, he said.
