ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi affirmed on Saturday the government’s unwavering commitment to a democratic process, ensuring thorough security arrangements as the nation approaches the imminent elections in four days.
He was addressing a press conference flanked by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Information Ministry’s Publicity Wing representative Amberin Jan, and Election Commission Spokesperson, the minister highlighted the extensive preparations made for the upcoming polls.
Pakistan, known as the fifth largest democracy globally, is gearing up for elections on 266 seats of the National Assembly, with over 12.8 crore voters expected to exercise their democratic rights.
Murtaza Solangi said an increase of 2 million women voters participating in this crucial electoral process.
The minister outlined a comprehensive plan involving the collaborative efforts of the Police, Frontier Corps (FC), Rangers, and the Pakistan Army.
The security responsibilities have been divided into three parts, ensuring a multi-faceted approach to maintain law and order during the elections.
“In our commitment to transparency, the caretaker government has no control over the courts. Pakistan remains a free country where everyone has the right to criticize,” stated Murtaza Solangi, emphasizing the democratic values upheld in the nation.
The Information Minister also highlighted the growing strength of democracy in the country, with a reassurance that all available resources are being utilized to conduct a fair and secure electoral process. With more than 12 crore citizens ready to cast their votes, the nation anticipates a milestone in its democratic journey, setting an example for the world.
