ISLAMABAD: Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice has revealed that Pakistan seeing no pressure from US President Trump or his administration to join Abraham Accords.
Talking on a private television channel, he emphasized that Pakistan will act solely in line with its national interests and has maintained a principled, moral stance.
Barrister Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s independent position, “What is best for Pakistan will be in our national interest. We have remained committed to our principled and moral position.”
He highlighted that Pakistan has taken similar principled positions concerning Iran and Israel.
“Pakistan opposed aggression against Iran and maintained a firm stance when such aggression occurred,” said Malik.
“Pakistan is a sovereign country; no nation can compel us to accept or reject anything,” he affirmed.
He reiterated the importance of safeguarding Pakistan’s interests in current circumstances. Malik recalled that, after the Pakistan-India war, Pakistan successfully asserted its position and emerged victorious.
He stated that India’s claims were discredited and that Pakistan now holds a stronger position internationally, adding that the global superpowers are now looking towards Pakistan.
Separately, adviser to the prime minister, Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday that Pakistan should back Saudi Arabia, Turkiye over the Abraham Accords.
