President, PM reaffirm support for visually impaired on world Braille Day

ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of World Braille Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and full participation of persons with visual impairment.

According to Radio Pakistan, In their messages on World Braille Day being observed today, they said the government will provide equal opportunities to special persons.

President Asif Ali Zardari said the country continues to honour commitments under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for inclusive and equitable society.

The Prime Minister in his message said the government is committed to protect rights of all special persons, including visually impaired.

He appealed the educational institutions, civil society, the private sector and the media to further strengthen their joint efforts and cooperation for the promotion of Braille literacy.
