ANF arrests 10 suspects, seizes over 31kg narcotics worth Rs3.5 million in nationwide operations

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted eight operations across the country and arrested 10 suspects, including a woman and recovered 31.338 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 3.5 million, APP reported.

According to ANF spokesman, ANF recovered 2.4 kg of hashish from a female suspect near a university Attock and another 2.4 kg of hashish from a rickshaw near Teen Meela Chowk, arresting the suspect.

The spokesman said the arrested suspects confessed during initial interrogation to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions.

In an international drug interdiction operation at Islamabad International Airport, ANF recovered 938 grams of methamphetamine (ice) from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Jeddah.

At the Karachi Terminal, officials confiscated 50,400 Valium tablets weighing 13.5 kg from a container destined for Thailand and arrested the suspect.

In Rawalpindi, ANF recovered four grams of MDMA and eight grams of suspected narcotic powder from a parcel arriving from the Netherlands at a courier office in Chaklala.

During domestic interdiction operations, ANF arrested two suspects after recovering 12 kg of hashish from a vehicle near the Indus Highway in Jamshoro.

In another operation on the Indus Highway, officials seized 10 kg of hashish from a vehicle and arrested three suspects.

Separately, ANF recovered 3.6 kg of hashish from a truck near a hotel in Sarai Alamgir, Gujrat, and arrested the suspect.

The spokesman said separate cases had been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations were under way.
