Coronavirus second wave: COVID-19 claims 41 more lives; 2,408 people tested positive, in last 24 hrs

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus second wave is contiue and after surging the toll of infections to half a million cases, on Tuesday the Virus claimed 41 more lives and 2,408 people were tested positive during last 24 hours.

Country is facing another threat of New Coronavirus Variant as National Institute of Health (NIH) has so far confirmed two positive patients of the new version of COVID-19 Variant reported in Karachi among people coming from Britain.

During last 24 hours nationwide figure of the pandemic reported was 41 deaths and 2,408 people were tested positive to COVID-19.

2,408 new coronavirus epidemic infections were reported during last 24 hours and 41 new deaths have been confirmed. With 2,408 new infections reported in the country the toll surged to 506,701 cases and with 41 more deaths the toll of fatalities jumped to 10,717 deaths on Tuesday.

According to the latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 41 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 2,408 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

Sindh with 227,885 overall COVID-19 cases remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

So far 227,885 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 146,016 in Punjab 61,648 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 39,340 in Islamabad, 18,429 in Balochistan, 8,501 in Azad Kashmir and 4,882 in Gilgit-Baltistan

Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 10,717 out of that 4,299 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 3,708 in Sindh, 1,743 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 443 in Islamabad, 235 in Azad Kashmir, 188 in Balochistan and 101 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 7,162,626 coronavirus tests and 40,088 in the last 24 hours. 461,977 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,340 patients are in critical condition.
