Death toll in marble mine collapse in Mohmand climbs to 19

PESHAWAR: The death toll in marble mine collapse in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has climbed to 19 after more dead bodies were retrieved from the debris by rescue workers.
According to details, a marble mine in Safi Tehsil of Mohmand tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collapsed during blasting process, trapping dozens of miners under the debris.
Police sources said that 19 dead bodies have so far retrieved from the rubble while nine persons were rescued in injured condition. Sources also informed that several miners are still missing in the incident.
The injured have been shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Sources said that rescue workers were facing difficulties due to darkness.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Mohmand Tariq Habib the rescue operation is unlikely to be completed soon as the area is very vast and there is possibility of land sliding.
He also informed that a loader and two trucks and are also trapped in the debris and expressed fear that the death toll mount further. He said that the rescue work is being hampered due to darkness.
