RAWALPINDI: Ulema from different schools of thoughts have urged that dissemination of sectarian and extremist ideas should be discouraged and those who support them in any way, must be taken to the task.
Ittehad e Ummah Conference was hosted by Pir Mohammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman. Participating Ulema, scholars, religious and spiritual leaders, agreed that the country was passing through challenging situation and cannot bear sectarianism.
Ulema claimed that Islam is the great religion and anyone who enters it begins to greet his or her companion by sending peace to each other. Islam is a universal religion irrespective of race and color.
The joint declaration issued after the moot said that sacred personalities with whom the reverence and affiliations of millions of people are associated, whether they are from the family of the Holy Prophet (PBHU) or the companions of the Holy Prophet, should be mentioned with great devotion and respect and no weak point should be attributed to them.
Moreover, there is a need to promote brotherhood and tolerance by generalizing the teachings of Allah and eliminate any sort of divisions among the Muslim ummah.

They demanded that a permanent mediation commission should be set up at the government level for resolving serious disputes impartially. No one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands and if any person takes the law into his own hands or says something that is against religion, ethics and the state, then it should be considered as a personal and individual act of the person and not by the whole sect. Legal action should be taken against such elements.
The participants of Ittehad-e-Ummah conference through a unanimous declaration condemned sectarian hatred, extremism and terrorism and stressed that the government should formulate strict laws to check such menace.
The proposed bill aimed to eliminate hatred and promote love should be passed by the parliament.
