Pakistan crosses 2,000 deaths, 100k infections; in last 24 hrs 67 new deaths, 4,960 new infections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has surpassed the 2,000 figure of death by coronavirus and 100,000 confirmed infections. Country witnessed another worst day by reporting 4,960 confirmed infections along with 67 deaths during last 24 hours.

With 4,960 new infections confirmed in the country during las 24 hours the overall infections tally crossed 98,943 cases and with 67 new deaths confirmed in last 24 hours the overall death toll jumped to 2,002.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 98,943 coronavirus infections in the country as it reported 2,002 deaths due to COVID-19.

According to province break-up given on National Dashboard of NCOC Punjab surpassed Sindh as worst-hit province by the coronavirus pandemic with 37,090 confirmed cases the highest number along side 683 fatalities, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 683,608 coronavirus tests and 23,100 in last 24 hours. 33, 465 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 07, Sunday 9:30am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 98,943 infections show that Punjab surpassed Sindh as the toll of the province jumped to 37,090 coronavirus cases followed by Sindh with.36,364 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 13,001 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 6,221, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 927 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 4,979 and 361 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 2,002 deaths reported in the country. Punjab at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 683 as Sindh remains at number 2 with 634 deaths. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 561 and the province has shown a little decline in fatalities. Balochistan 54 Gilgit-Baltisan 13, Islamabad Capital Territory 45 and AJK 8.

More than 6.77 million people have been reported infected with the novel coronavirus globally and over 395,000 have died.

Islamabad makes wearing face masks mandatory in public. Face masks are now mandatory to be worn by everybody while in crowded public places, mosques, bazaars, shopping malls, public transport ie road, rail and flights.
