Police constable martyred in gun attack near home in KP’s Lakki Marwat

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A police constable was martyred on Sunday following unknown armed men opened fire near his home in the village of Kichi Qamar of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, according to Lakki Marwat District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan.

Qudratullah Khan, who is a Lakki Marwat district police officer’s (DPO) spokesman, confirmed that terrorists targeted Constable Irfanullah near his house in the trans-river belt known as Kurrum Par area.

The spokesperson further said the investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and identify those responsible.

The incident took place within the limits of Dadiwala police station. Qudratullah said that the policeman received critical bullet injuries and died on the way to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in the Serai Naurang town.

The Funeral prayers for a police constable killed in a shooting incident were held with full official honours at Police Lines in Lakki Marwat.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of police officers, personnel and district administration officials.

A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour, while officers laid floral wreaths on the coffin and offered prayers for the departed.

Over the last few months, several areas of KP, including Bannu, Peshawar, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Bajaur, have witnessed a series of terrorist attacks on police personnel.
