ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will be dissolved immediately if ordered by the party’s founder.
Speaking to reporters outside the Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Monday, Barrister Gohar expressed disappointment over the judicial process but maintained hope that justice would eventually prevail.
“More than 300 cases have been filed against the PTI founder. Before being jailed, he had already appeared in court 350 times. Within just five days, he was sentenced three times, amounting to a total of 45 years,” Gohar said.
He also condemned the treatment of the PTI founder’s wife, who has also been convicted, stating that access to books and meetings has been unlawfully denied.
“Despite all attempts to eliminate the PTI founder politically, they have failed,” he asserted.
KP Assembly Decision in Founder’s Hands
Barrister Gohar revealed that the KP budget has yet to be passed, but time still remains to do so. He emphasized that any decision on the assembly’s fate rests solely with the PTI founder.
“This is his assembly, secured by his vote. If he instructs us to dissolve it, we will act accordingly. This vote is not ours—it belongs to the PTI founder. If not for him, even my own family wouldn’t have voted for me.”
Zartaj Gul Slams Government, Judiciary
Meanwhile, PTI leader Zartaj Gul, also speaking to media at the Judicial Complex, strongly criticized the federal government and judiciary.
She referenced the November 26 incident, alleging that peaceful citizens were fired upon while demanding their rights, and lamented that PTI workers are being tried in anti-terrorism courts, whereas no action has been taken against leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Gul also criticized the judiciary for delays in the high-profile £190 million case, noting that it still hasn’t been scheduled despite court vacations approaching.
“Punjab has suffered a financial loss of one trillion rupees, and the Chief Minister is more active on TikTok than in governance. The behavior of the PPP and PML-N is deeply disappointing,” she said.
