Punjab Chief Minister approves five Mother & Child Hospitals worth Rs.28 bln

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the construction of mother & childcare hospitals in Attock, Layyah, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and Sialkot with an approximate amount of Rs 28 billion.

The foundation stones will be laid soon to complete the hospitals within two years to provide the best healthcare facilities to the patients, he said and directed to settle related aspects without delay and announced to personally monitor the progress adding that no shortage of funds will occur for this project.

Usman Buzdar was chairing a meeting at his office on Thursday to review progress on health projects. Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, chairman P&D, secretaries of health and finance departments and others attended the meeting.

The meeting was told that 583 new corona cases were reported and 40 others lost their lives during that last 24 hours while 16002 tests were conducted. So far, 5308 corona patients have died and 3245203 tests have been conducted in the province.

The chief minister stated that around 7.5 million people of more than 60 years will be administered the anti-corona vaccine from March 8. Special centres will be set up in districts with necessary facilities and I will also visit such facilities, he added. Meanwhile, 47 thousand frontline health workers have been vaccinated and 2.25 lakh others are registered.

Usman Buzdar directed to expedite the vaccination process and appreciated the role played by health professionals. He instructed the health department to deliberate over the proposal of setting up a prefabricated hospital in Lahore and submit recommendations without delay.
