PESHAWAR: A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) challenging the establishment of the steering committee established by the federal government for development of merged districts.
As per derails, a writ petition on Thursday filed against the steering committee establishment for using uplift funds in the merged districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it unconstitutional and interference in the provincial affairs.
The federal government and the federal cabinet were made parties in the petition.
The petitioners’ stated that development works and utilization of uplift funds through steering is illegal. It is the clear violation of the Constitution, writ petition read.
It is unconstitutional to bypass the provincial government and utilize the funds through the steering committee, the petition further states.
The writ Petition filed on behalf of government members of merged districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The petition requested the Peshawar High Court to declare the formation of steering committee null and void.
