MUZAFARABAD: David C. Allen, a senior American diplomat said that Kashmir issue’s amicable solution is essential for peace, security and stability in South Asia.
He was speaking in a meeting with think-tank Institute of Peace and Development
(INSPAD). INSPAD President / CEO Dr. Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabasum led his organization’s delegation that included Muhammad Akram Sohail, Mian Rafiq Jhagvi, Khalid Khurshid khan, Malik Saeed Awan Advocate, Mian Muhammad Attique and Ghulam M. Chaudhry.
INSPAD in a press statement after meeting quoted David saying that President Trump’s mediation offer is valid if India and Pakistan both accept it. He appreciated that Pakistan has taken practical measures to control militant organizations.
David Allen said Pakistan has made progress towards peace, prosperity in the region,but Indian leadership has not followed this spirit.
The INSPAD president suggested that if America appoints a special envoy to Kashmir to monitor the whole situation, it would be helpful in resolving the conflict.
He said Indian army has been killing innocent people in Kashmir and carrying out serious human rights violations and genocide.
He said 94,700 Kashmiris have been killed-7000 of them in custody, 10,000 women have been raped and 80,000 people have disappeared since 1989.
Khalid Khurshid Khan, INSPAD Regional Director Gilgit Baltistan, explained the legal status of the Kashmir issue and Akram Sohail a retired additional Chief Secretary AJK government gave briefing on history of the dispute.
INSPAD president demanded India must start dialogue and lift the curfew, otherwise she would be responsible for deteriorating situation in the subcontinent.
