SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A surge of educational enthusiasm swept across South Waziristan Lower on Thursday as the Wana Welfare Association (WAWA) launched a high-impact mass enrollment campaign under the banner “Every Child in School.” The campaign, now a signature event for WAWA, witnessed record participation this year.

The initiative focused on increasing school enrollment and raising awareness about the fundamental right to education. It featured awareness walks, rallies, and community events throughout Wana, Birmal, Shakai, Spin, Tanai, and nearby villages.

Thousands of students, parents, teachers, tribal elders, local leaders, and social workers participated—creating a united front for educational reform. Colorful banners and placards bearing slogans like “Education for All” and “Every Child in School!” were seen across the district, reflecting a growing shift in public perception toward the value of education.

The largest rally, held in Wana Bazaar, concluded at Government High School Wana, where thousands raised slogans in favor of education and pledged support for a brighter future.

WAWA President Rehmat Ullah Wazir addressed the crowd, stating:

“Education is every child’s fundamental right. Without it, peace and progress remain out of reach. We will continue this mission until no child is left behind.”

Deputy Commissioner Nasir Khan, who also joined the main rally, commended the initiative and assured full administrative support for educational development. Tribal elders echoed these sentiments, urging the government to improve school facilities, appoint qualified staff, and promote equal access to education.

Several parents publicly announced their decision to enroll their children on the spot—a spontaneous and powerful outcome that highlighted the campaign’s effectiveness.

WAWA leaders reaffirmed their commitment to future drives and expressed hope for continued government collaboration.

In a region as remote and historically underserved as South Waziristan, the success of this campaign marks a potential turning point. With rising awareness and grassroots support, the dream of universal education is beginning to take root.
