Policeman killed colleague over flat dispute in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police personnel has shot dead his colleague over a flat dispute in Sector G-6 on Thursday.

Islamabad police officer Asim shot dead his fellow policeman Bakht Munir during a fight over their accommodation. On receiving the news, a police team reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Polyclinic Hospital for postmortem.

As per the details, both policemen were having an issue over the flat and their dispute took an ugly turn when Asim opened fire on Bakht and killed him on the spot.

Last month, as many as 10 people have been brutally killed in the federal capital and the police could not arrest a single accused in these murder cases.

Out of 10 murder cases, one was killed during robbery while nine others were murdered for old enmity. Two murders were reported in Khanna Police Station and Koral area, one civilian was killed in Sabzi Mandi, Bani Gala and Lohi Bhair area while others were killed in the premises of Aabpara Police Station, Secretariat and Sihala.

The police were still awaiting the postmortem report of four murder cases. The ICT Police homicide unit has not been working up to the mark and lingering on the cases to have any concluding end. Islamabad Police said the Homicide Unit has been working and the culprits will be behind the bars soon.

Attempts have been made to kill another 15 people in the last two weeks, however, Islamabad police have arrested six accused involved in attempted murder cases but only one challan out of ten murder cases was presented in court.
