Calling the pattern “deeply frightening”, Aamir questioned how much more the public is expected to witness before meaningful change takes place.

The actor’s comments came a day after some sailors’ family members said they were briefly detained by police ahead of a planned march.

Police commented they had only “engaged” with protesters to persuade them to leave the area near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs liaison office and denied using force to disperse them.

The sit-in is the latest of several protests staged over the past five months, with families demanding government action to secure the sailors’ release.

The protests have so far failed to produce significant progress.

Hania Aamir is among several Pakistani celebrities who have spoken publicly in support of the sailors.

Mahira Khan, Sabeena Farooq and Talha Anjum have also called for their safe recovery.

Aamir, With more than 15 million followers, has frequently used her social media platform to comment on issues beyond the entertainment industry.
