MARDAN: Two pilots were martyred on Monday when a Pakistan Air Force Super Mushshak trainer aircraft on a routine training sortie crashed near Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the aircraft was on a routine training sortie when it crashed. As a result, Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah from the PAF and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi from the Pakistan Navy embraced martyrdom.
“A board of inquiry has been constituted by Air Headquarters to ascertain the cause of accident,” stated.
ISPR further said its statement, “Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the services chiefs and all Ranks Pakistan Armed Forces express deep grief over the tragic loss of precious lives and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep sorrow over the crash and conveyed condolences over the deaths of two officers in the incident, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and stated he stood in solidarity with the bereaved families.
It is pertinent to mention that during take-off on June 10 due to a technical fault, the latest incident an Mi-17 helicopter of Pakistan Army Aviation crashed near Muzaffarabad.
